# NFPA 25

NFPA 25 is the standard for the inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems such as sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps and water storage tanks.

## Why it matters

Buyers and lenders review sprinkler inspection records to see if the system has been maintained. Missed tests and impairments can raise insurance and repair costs. Periodic testing intervals are set in the standard.
