# R-410A Refrigerant

R-410A is a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant blend widely used in air conditioning and heat pump equipment, now being restricted in new equipment under EPA rules that limit high global warming potential refrigerants.

## Why it matters

EPA rules restrict the manufacture and import of new residential and light commercial air conditioning products that use R-410A starting January 1, 2025. Existing systems can continue to be serviced. Owners should expect higher parts and refrigerant costs and plan for replacement with lower-GWP equipment.
