Backflow Preventer

A backflow preventer is an assembly or device that stops contaminated water from flowing backward into the drinking water supply through a cross-connection.

Why it matters

Irrigation systems, fire sprinkler lines, boilers and food service equipment often need backflow protection. Many water utilities require periodic testing. Missing or failed devices create health risks and can lead to notices from the utility.
