De Minimis Condition

A de minimis condition is an environmental condition that generally does not present a threat to human health or the environment and would not normally be the subject of an enforcement action.

Why it matters

ASTM E1527-21 states that a de minimis condition is not a recognized environmental condition. Examples are typically minor staining or small incidental releases. The environmental professional may note them in the report without treating them as RECs.
