International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC)

The International Wildland-Urban Interface Code is a model code from the International Code Council that sets requirements for land use and the built environment in designated wildland-urban interface areas.

Why it matters

Jurisdictions may adopt the code with local changes, so rules differ by location. It addresses construction materials, vegetation and access. New projects and major alterations in mapped areas should check local adoption.
