Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI)

The wildland-urban interface is the line, area or zone where structures and other human development meet or mix with undeveloped wildland or vegetative fuels.

Why it matters

Buildings in the WUI face higher wildfire exposure and can face stricter code and insurance rules. Pre-purchase wildfire reviews look at vegetation, roofing, vents and access. Findings can affect insurability and capital plans.
