Readily Achievable Barrier Removal

Readily achievable barrier removal is the ADA Title III duty to remove barriers in existing facilities when doing so is easily accomplishable and can be carried out without much difficulty or expense.

Why it matters

Examples include adding grab bars, repositioning furniture and creating accessible parking spaces. What is readily achievable depends on cost and the business's resources. Owners should document what they fixed and why other items were not feasible.
