Rooftop Unit (RTU)

A rooftop unit is a packaged heating and cooling unit installed on a roof or outdoors that supplies conditioned air through ductwork to the spaces below.

Why it matters

RTUs are among the most common HVAC systems in retail, office and light industrial buildings. Their age, refrigerant type and condition drive near-term capital costs. Roof penetrations and curbs around RTUs are common leak points.
