Commercial Building Inspection (CBI)

A commercial building inspection is a visual, non-intrusive examination of an existing commercial property, with research and a written report on observed conditions, performed to the CCPIA Commercial Standards of Practice.

Why it matters

A CBI describes what is wrong with a building now, while a PCA also forecasts capital needs over time. Owner-occupant buyers and local investors often choose a CBI for defect-driven decisions. Many institutional lenders require an ASTM E2018 PCA instead, so check the lender's requirement before ordering.
